Materials of High Chrome Alloy Impeller
The following materials are commonly used high-chrome alloys for slurry pump impellers, with A05 high-chrome alloy being the most frequently used. Depending on the specific characteristics of the slurry and user requirements, options such as rubber, polyurethane, or ceramic are available. For exceptionally unique working conditions, we also provide customized services. Please feel free to consult our sales engineers for more information.
Code | Description | Hardness | Applications |
A05 | 27%Cr, Wear-resistant White Cast Iron. | ≥58HRC | For abrasive wear with larger impact loads, suitable for working conditions with pH value of 5~12. |
A49 | 28%Cr, Wear-resistant and Corrosion-resistant Cast Iron. | ≥43HRC | Suitable for corrosive environments with low pH, 3.5≤PH≤13, especially suitable for flue gas desulfurization with PH≥4 device, usually used in low-acid environments. |
A33 | 33%Cr, Wear-resistant and Corrosion-resistant Alloy. | ≥35HRC | Used to transport oxidizing slurry with PH≥1, such as phosphogypsum, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and phosphoric acid. |

FAQs About Pump Impellers
What is an impeller and its function?
An impeller is a rotating iron or steel disc with vanes in a centrifugal pump. Impellers transfer energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid being pumped by accelerating the fluid radially outwards from the centre of rotation.
What are the three types of pump impellers?
There are three main types of pump impellers: closed, semi-open, and open. While each design brings unique benefits, selecting the right impeller depends on factors like the fluid being pumped, NPSHa (Net Positive Suction Head Available), and required head pressure.
How often replace pump impeller?
Hours or every 2 years that’s basically what most brands out there that’s their intervals. Some will say 3 years. But it’s usually 2 years 300 hours generally.
