Pansto PH series of slurry pump is a cantilever centrifugal double shell slurry pump, double pump shell pump body pump cover with a replaceable wear metal liner or natural rubber lining,1. It is suitable for transporting abrasive or corrosive slag slurry. It is widely used in metallurgy, mining, petroleum, chemical industry, coal, electric power, transportation, river dredging, building materials and municipal engineering.

Key Features

Pansto PH slurry pumps have thick wear parts and heavy bracket, generally used for slurries containing highconcentrations of erosive solids or where an extremely heavy duty pump is required. They offer a wide range ofworld class hard metal wet ends (PH) and rubber wet ends (PH) for erosive and/or corrosive applications. The PHpumps can be operated in series with multi-stage within permissible pressure.

Shaft seal options

The shaft seal is one of the most important mechanical elements in centrifugal slurry pump and the correct type of seal must be carefully selected to suit each individual pump system. There are three commonly used shaft sealing options:

Mechanical seal

The mechanical seal consists of astationary and a rotating facepressed together undermechanical and hydraulic pressureto prevent leakage. lt has best sealeffect, used for zero leakageconditions. Low pressure flushmechanical seal do not dilute theproduct. High cost.

Packing seal

The soft, packed gland seal is the most commonly used seal in slurry applications. Clean water at a certain pressure being injected into the packing through the lantern, preventing leakage from casing. Simple structure, easy maintenance, low cost.

Expeller dynamic seal

The expeller acts as a turbine to reduce the pressure of the slurry attempting to escape around the back of the impeller.A secondary seal, grease lubricated packing or rubber lip seal stops leakage when the pump is not running. No gland water is needed.

Applications

Suitable for a wide range of dredging and slurry transfer operations:
  • Mining Slurry Transport – Moves ore slurry between processing stages.
  • Industrial Slurry Handling – Transfers waste or process slurries.
  • Construction Projects – Pumps slurry for tunneling or foundations.
  • Water Treatment – Moves sludge and slurry.
  • Sand & Gravel Transport – Handles coarse slurry in construction sites.

FAQ

What is a slurry pump

slurry pump is a type of centrifugal pump specifically designed for handling abrasive and viscous fluids known as slurries. Slurries are mixtures of solid particles suspended in a liquid medium. These pumps are widely used in industries such as mining, construction, oil and gas, and wastewater treatment, where the transfer of slurry is necessary.

Slurry pumps are widely used in transport of abrasive solids in industries such as mining, dredging, and steel. They are often designed to be suitable for heavy-wearing and heavy-duty uses.

Submersible slurry pumps are used to transfer the liquid with abraisive particals, such as sand, mud and so on. While submersible sewage pumps are used to transfer the liquid containing impurities such as fibers and paper scraps.

There are 4 transmission modes of slurry pumps, including direct connection (DCZ), side-mounted (CRZ), overhead-mounted (CV), and reverse overhead-mounted (ZVZ).

Sewage pumps and slurry pumps play an indispensable role in controlling wastewater and water treatment processes by aspects of moving liquids from one position to another. Although they both perform the functions of handling fluids, sewage pumps and slurry pumps have very different applications and functions.

Some common types of slurry pumps include:

  • Horizontal Centrifugal Slurry Pump
  • Vertical Centrifugal Slurry Pump
  • Submersible Slurry Pump
  • Slurry Pump with Shaft Seal
  • Slurry Pump with Agitator

Using a slurry pump offers several benefits in industries where the handling and transportation of slurries are necessary. Some key benefits are efficient handling of slurries, improved productivity, reduced equipment wear, customization options, enhanced safety, and environmental considerations. These advantages make them indispensable in industries where the reliable and efficient transportation of abrasive fluids is essential.

While slurry pumps offer numerous benefits, they also have certain limitations that should be considered. These include:

  • High wear and maintenance
  • Clogging and blockages
  • Limited efficiency with varying slurry characteristics
  • Comparatively higher energy consumption
  • Higher noise and vibrations as compared to centrifugal pumps

Slurry pump selection depends on the slurry’s particle size, abrasiveness, flow rate, head pressure, installation requirements, and environmental conditions. Choosing the right slurry pump for your specific needs requires you to:

  • Understand Your Application
  • Evaluate Pump Performance
  • Consider Pump Construction and Materials
  • Assess pump design and features
  • Consider manufacturer reputation and support
  • Seek expert advice from a slurry pump supplier
  • Cost considerations

Proper maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. Conduct regular inspections, replace worn parts, and ensure proper lubrication. In addition, clean the impeller, monitor the seal condition, and flush the pump and piping periodically. It is crucial to keep records of maintenance activities and seek professional servicing when needed.

A centrifugal pump operates on the principle of centrifugal force to transport abrasive, solid-laden fluids. The process begins when the slurry enters the pump impeller along the rotational axis through the suction pipe. The impeller, driven by a motor, rotates at high speed, imparting kinetic energy to the slurry. This action converts the kinetic energy into hydrodynamic energy as the slurry is forced radially outward into a diffuser or volute chamber. The design of the chamber helps convert the velocity of the slurry into pressure, efficiently directing the slurry to the discharge point. This type of centrifugal pump is especially effective for handling abrasive materials in mining, dredging, and industrial processes due to its robust construction and dynamic operation.
