The Transmission Modes of Slurry Pumps

What are the common transmission modes of slurry pumps?Pansto heavy duty slurry pumps require connection to a motor to generate kinetic energy for slurry transportation. Their drive arrangements offer flexibility, with various motor configurations available, including direct connection (DCZ), side-mounted (CRZ), overhead-mounted (CV), and reverse overhead-mounted (ZVZ).

What are the transmission modes of slurry pumps?

1. Direct transmission(DCZ) mode

Direct drive (DC drive) means that the slurry pump and the motor are connected through a coupling. The shafts of the slurry pump and the motor are on a central axis, with no other transmission links in between. There are roughly three common types of couplings: claw couplings, pin couplings and diaphragm couplings. The direct-connected transmission operates reliably and has a low failure rate. The specific coupling to be used depends on the type of slurry pump and the power of the motor.

2. Belt drive mode

Belt drive means that the slurry pump and the motor are connected through the pulley and the belt. The belt plays the role of power transmission, and there is a certain efficiency loss. Compared with direct drive, belt drive can easily change the working parameters of the slurry pump, and can easily achieve the required working parameters of the slurry pump. According to the relative position changes of the motor and the slurry pump, the belt drive usually has four arrangements:

1. CR/CRZ transmission mode

The slurry pump and the motor are on the same horizontal plane. “R” refers to right, which means “right”. Viewed from the inlet direction of the pump, the motor on the right side of the pump is a CR drive. Usually we will also provide a common base for the pump and motor to ensure smooth and reliable installation. This type of CR drive with a common base is also called: CRZ drive. Compared with large slurry pumps, their weight and volume are relatively large, so we no longer provide a public base.

2. CL/CLZ transmission mode

Corresponding to CR transmission, “L” means “left”. Viewed from the inlet direction of the pump, the arrangement of the motor on the left side of the pump is called CL transmission. Usually we will also provide a common base for the pump and motor to ensure smooth and reliable installation. This CL drive with a common base is also called: CLZ drive. Compared with large slurry pumps, their weight and volume are relatively large, so we no longer provide a public base.

3. ZV transmission mode

ZV transmission is also called tailstock belt transmission. The motor is fixed on the rack at the tail of the slurry pump. That is, the motor and the slurry pump have a common base, and the belt is located between the pump and the motor. The belt transmission direction of the ZV drive is up and down. By raising the base of the motor, the position of the motor can be raised. It can be applied to working conditions where there is water at the work site to prevent water from entering the motor.

4. CV transmission mode

The belt drive direction of the CV drive is also up and down. The difference from the ZV drive is that the CV drive motor and the slurry pump do not have a base. The motor is installed above the bearing assembly of the pump, and a small motor base is supported by bolts to place the motor. The installation of the slurry pump and motor of this transmission method is relatively compact, which effectively saves space and can also prevent water from entering the motor. It is an economical installation method and is suitable for use with smaller power motors.

How to choose the transmission mode of slurry pump?

Different transmission modes are determined according to the different parameters required by the working conditions. Determine the pump speed within the specified flow and head range. Generally, when the speed of the slurry pump is the same as the speed of the motor, we use direct drive. When the speed of the slurry pump is inconsistent with the speed of the motor, belt drive is generally used. Belt drive is also suitable for working conditions where the center distance between the two shafts is large.
