Description
What is Slurry Pump Expeller
The expeller is a very important slurry pump part if the expeller seal is selected for the pump. It can not only help seal the pump, but also reduce the centrifugal force. The design and material of expeller is significant to its service life because it is also one of the wet parts. Pansto offers expeller in cast iron and high chrome materials for options.
Why choose Pansto slurry pump expeller?
Pansto possesses a wide range of wear-resistant high chromium alloys to ensure long service life under various severe working conditions. In the production process of castings, we strictly implement the requirements of the production process, and each process is inspected and recorded accordingly to ensure the stability of product quality.
Functions & Features
Pansto expeller is typically installed in the expeller seal section of the slurry pump. It is located in the shaft sealing area, usually near the pump casing wall and bearing section, and rotates together with the impeller to provide sealing protection.
Its main function is to generate centrifugal force through the pump’s internal rotational flow, pushing the slurry out of the pump and preventing it from leaking through the shaft seal. The main role of the expeller is as follows.
Sealing Protection:
Expeller works with the pump shaft’s sealing components to reduce leakage, maintaining pump integrity and reducing shaft wear for improved reliability.
Reduced Seal Wear:
Expeller minimizes internal pressure differences, reducing seal wear and leakage, which extends pump life.
Enhanced Durability:
Made from wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant alloys, the expeller ensures long-term performance in harsh environments with abrasive or corrosive slurries.
Improved Efficiency:
By controlling leakage, the expeller boosts pump efficiency and reduces energy loss.
Lower Maintenance Costs:
Compared to traditional seals, the expeller reduces wear and failure, cutting down on maintenance costs.

FAQ
What is an expeller in a pump?
Expeller also called Back impeller. It is an open impeller mounted in the opposite direction of the shaft to the opposite side of the impeller rear cover. The main effect is to balance the axial force and reduce the pressure of the sealed chamber.
What is the difference between an impeller and an expeller?
In contrast, for the expeller to work most efficiently, it is set against the frame plate (i.e. in the opposite direction to how the impeller is set). The sacrifice in using expeller sealed pumps is an increase in the power consumed and the wear rate of the impeller and throat bush.
What is the function of the expeller ring?
Expeller rings are designed to create a seal between the impeller and the pump casing, preventing the slurry from leaking out of the pump and ensuring optimal performance. These rings are typically made of high-quality materials such as rubber, polyurethane, or metal to withstand the harsh conditions of slurry pumping.
