Structure of Slurry Pump Bearing Assembly
Standard slurry pump bearing assemblies consist of two sets of imperial single-row tapered roller bearings installed face-to-face in movable bearing housings. High-capacity bearing assemblies feature one set of imperial double-row tapered roller bearings installed near the pump end and one set of two groups of metric cylindrical roller bearings installed near the motor end. Lithium-based grease, recommended lubrication for the bearings, are suggested to be either No. 2 or No. 3.

How To Install Slurry Pump Bearing Assembly
During slurry pump assembly, it is essential to uniformly heat the bearing to 80–100°C before mounting it onto the shaft. This thermal expansion allows the bearing to slide smoothly into position and ensures a tight fit.
After heating, the bearing should be installed quickly and accurately to prevent cooling. If the inner ring cools before proper positioning, it may fail to seat tightly against the shaft shoulder, leading to misalignment, premature wear, or reduced service life.

This video shows the installation process of the end cover labyrinth seal for the common cartridge grease-lubricated bearing assembly of Warman slurry pumps. The main parts include a lip seal, two metal labyrinth rings, and a labyrinth sleeve, which are installed in sequence. It’s important to note that the fastening methods for the labyrinth sleeves at both ends of the bearing assembly differ. On the pump end, it is secured by the impeller and shaft sleeve pressing against it, while on the drive end, it is fastened using a round nut.
How To Maintain Slurry Pump Bearing Assembly
The slurry pump bearing assembly is also called the rotor component, belonging to the slurry pump accessories component, which is an important part of the slurry pump and is the transmission power device. The bearing assembly is used to connect the pump and motor parts to form a complete working system. All before change bearing,you have to clean bearing housing,bearing end cover,shaft and other fittings to prevent dirt,protective coating or lubricating oil.
Do not wash the lubricant from the bearing manufacturing plant put on bearing.
The manufacturer uses a high-grade acid-free lubricant(there are no chemicals and impurities inside that may cause corrosion).
Any additives added must be absolutely clean.
Take the following actions when replacing the bearing:
- Get all things covered to prevent dirt.
- Use special tools for friction,do not use wood scrapers and use steel or putty knives.
- If lubrication gun is used,the grease nipple and lubrication components should be kept clean.
