AF Vertical Froth Pump Description

The viscous chemical froth produced for mineral processing and oilsand extraction, though necessary, can quickly overwhelm the capabilities of a standard slurry pump.To address this concern, specifically the Pansto AF series froth pump to convey frothy, corrosive slurry.
Among their many benefits, when working, these pumps can effectively eliminate the foam of slurry weight and can maintain normal function, despite insufficient incoming materials. They are especially suitable for various flotation processes and are also ideal for conveying foamed paste.

Pansto AF series froth pump is a new generation of products developed by our company based on the introduction of advanced technology at home and abroad. This series of pumps can effectively eliminate the froth in the slurry when working, and can still work normally under the condition of insufficient incoming materials, especially suitable for various flotation processes, is the ideal product for conveying froth slurry.

Features & Benefits

  1. Robust Structural Design: Featuring a double-casing with lined wear and corrosion-consistent wetted parts, and a sturdy vertical shaft, ensuring reliability and an extended service life.
  2. Optional Wetted Parts: Commomly made from high chrome alloy, rubber, or polyurethane are availabe for enhanced adaptability to highly corrosive slurry with froth.
  3. Special Conical Tank: Employing a conical feed tank with a tangential feed inlet and an overflow port, this design improves the contact time between froth ore slurry and air. It facilitates air bubbles escape, ensuring the efficient discharge of excess froth from the tank.
  4. Optimal Impeller Design: Utilizing a semi-open impeller with vanes on the upper side of the impeller shroud, creating a vortex that aids in air bubbles escaping from around the shaft.
  5. Flexible Drive Arrangement: Choose between direct coupling or belt drive based on working conditions and individual preferences.
  6. Reliable Bearing Assembly: Adopting integrally movable cartridge bearing assembly from SP vertical sump pumps with grease-lubricated roller bearings, allowing for easy maintenance and simple impeller clearance adjustment.
  7. Cost Savings: With no submerged bearings or shaft seals, the need for shaft seal water is eliminated, resulting in reduced operating costs.

Constructions

Construction of Vertical Froth Pump
  • Impeller:Semi-open impeller designs with vanes located on both sides of the shroud are suitable for pumping froth.

  • Metal and rubber lined pump:Totally interchangeable thick rubber or hardened metal liner.

  • Casing:Two halves radially split casing with minimum casing bolts reducing maintenance and minimise downtime.

  • Bearing Assembly:The maintenance friendly bearing assembly has heavy-duty roller bearings, robust housings, and a massive shaft convert from AlphaFlo V sereis vertical sump pump.

  • Shaft sealing: Cantilever vertical pump no shaft seal requirement.
  • Metal and rubber lined pump: Totally interchangeable thick rubber or hardened metal liner

FAQ

What Froth Factor Can Your Froth Pump Handle?

  • The froth pump selection will depend on the froth volume factor (FVF) and the flow rate of the slurry you need to pump.
  • It need to take into consideration the throughput of the plant and the actual stream the pump is in – concentrate or tailings – as well as what section of the flotation process the pump is installed in.

Froth contains very fine particles, and rubber liners withstand this type of wear very well, proving to be very cost-effective. We use rubber or metal liners, offering them in natural rubber, synthetic rubber options for slurries with hydrocarbon or reagents content, or high chrome white iron if required.

  • Mineral froth is a three-phase aerated mixture containing solids, liquid and air. The air contained in the mineral froth complicates suction conditions, often resulting in an air lock at the impeller eye.
  • Unlike standard centrifugal slurry pumps, AlphaFlo® vertical froth pumps contain a unique impeller with oversized inducer blades on each vane and a large eye. This makes the entrained air bubbles dissipate or reduce in size so that they do not inhibit the flow of the slurry.
  • To determine the froth volume factor (FVF), you will need to take slurry samples from the suction piping, as close to the pump inlet as possible. Fill several beakers so that the results can be averaged and measure the froth column and liquid. Let it de-aerate for 24 hours and then measure again.
  • The FVF is the ratio of the aerated volume to de-aerated volume.
